Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
