Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
