Web poker has become globally acclaimed recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years several variations on the first poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no bluffing or different kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up just before the dealer broadcasting "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other gamblers are given five cards. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to either make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes instantly to the casino. After the wager comes the showdown. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, plus a figure in accordance with the ante. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays out cash even with your bet and fixed expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
