Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker enthusiast states at no time to have peered down the shadow of a looming poker tilt – they are either telling a lie or they haven’t been playing for a long time. This doesn’t mean of course that every poker player has been on tilt in the past, some people have wonderful willpower and carry their losses as a hit and leave it at that. To be a powerful poker gambler, it is absolutely important to approach your successes and your losses in an identical way – with little emotion. You participate in the match the same way you did after taking a hard beat as you would after winning a big hand. All poker pros are not attracted by tilting after an awful defeat as they are incredibly experienced and you should be to.

You must understand that you cannot win each hand you’re in, regardless if you are heavily favored. Hands that typically cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the favored or at a minimum believed you were until you were rivered and you burned a big chunk of your stack. Bad defeats are bound to happen. Accept that certainty right now, I will say it once again – if your sister enjoys cards, if your father enjoys cards, if your grandpa enjoys cards – We all have bad defeats at some point. It is an unavoidable outcome of competing in Texas Holdem, or in reality any kind of poker.

Since we are assumingly (most of us) in the game for one purpose – to win $$$$, it would make sense that we would gamble appropriately to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you take a gigantic blow in a NL game and your bankroll is at $120. You have burned $80 in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a ten to one edge. And that guy! He banged you out on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a quintessential choice for a fresh gambler to begin tilting. They just lost too much money on one hand that they really should have won and they are pissed
